yes, in the engine swaps section there are a few posts on it. I'm sure if you started a new topic they'd be able to help you. According to my Chevrolet Power manual, the big differences are starter location, motor mounts and the water inlet.

Well i'v been hooked, as soon as I get some cash and time i'm going to be buying a 2.8L out of a '89-91 Trooper, i'm going to see if I can get the 5-speed and t-case, and rear axle all at the same time. i now see the advantage of having a V6, and a GM one at that in my luv. More power and yet still get pretty good gas milage, i mean the 2.8 can't bet too much worse than the 20mpg that i'm getting with the stock 1.8. well i'll be looking for a lot for info on this, i'll keep ya all updated, and Luvmann, i think you and me are going to be in the same boat here, so i guess we'll be helping each other out here.

I screwed up and bought the wrong one, i realize that now. but what i need is help to fix the issue. i think it is possible but im not sure. im new to this engine swap thing. at this point i HIGHLY wish me dad was off work and would have been ably to come with me to get it. oh well that life i guess.

hopefully things get better.
or at least i hope i can resell the engine if it is useless to me.

Yes it's rear wheel drive, with a t-case attached to the tranny.

transfer case, splits power from the tranny to the front axle on 4x4's.

so far from what i'v seen is around $200 for buy it now price on e-bay. theres only two on there now and the one is blown, the other looks to be in ok shape.

200 doesn't sound too bad but shipping is gonna kick ya in the rear. I may not know too much but i know engines are HEAVY lol. there was a guy talkin on this other forum (60degreev6) shipping was around 800 bucks to send an engine.

Yes, it is possible to change it to rear wheel drive. You can turn the intake manifold around so the throttle body points to the front of the vehicle but you'll have to convert to a RWD timing cover and water pump. You will probably have to fabricate some motor/transmission mounts for your particular application. There will likely be a long list of other things you will need to consider as well.

this is the info i recieved on that site you gave me roadshow. so at least it is possible. sounds rather simple other than the part about

i don't think i will need to worry about the water pump but we wil see.

(the fun continues)

anyone know what HTH is about?

man thats pretty intensive stuff to even get it to work in a rwd application, I guess i'll make sure the one i get is out of a rwd truck or something. yeah shipping would most likely be an arm and a leg to get an engine over here to AZ. i think i'll try to find one in state or in NM or CO. i'm going to be checking out some other sites to see what i can find in regards to tranny's and stuff

ya learn fom my mistake. I have certainly learned my lesson. before this i didn't even know that "v" engines were ever put in fwd viehicles. kinda sad huh?

i might take a shot at converting it but im leaning heavly to resell it and pray for the best.

i think you should see if you can find like a buick 3.8 from a fwd car. theyre simple to convert to rwd. all you have to do is turn the intake around and get a 60* tranny. the fwd buicks used the same trannys as the 2.8s. just a suggestion.
