if you are talking the 2.8L there is a guy oin here (4x4luv) that has done this swap. And I know a few others have done the 4.3L swap, I just can't think of who exactly right now...

i have one of those little things in my s-10. It's a decent motor. Some aftermarket items avaibable for it to build it up a bit, but the one I just put in is stock and has good pep for being in a truck. And it's size is a bonus. Shouldn't be much for clearance issues.

there are a few options avalible that i know of. Cams, intake manifolds that sort of thing, and carbs too, if your going that route. on a side note, Isuzu had these engines in Troopers from '89-91, and i know they had them connected to their 5-speed stick, might be able to get ahold of one of those trannys and drop it in along w/ the 2.8

good tranny info rezkid..
there are all the parts you mentioned available plus if you wanna get "crazy" there are stroker kits available to go 3.1 with it. there is a lot of information available on these little engines in the s-10 forums on the web. anopther bonus is parts availability.. these things are just everywhere around here. I picked up the one i have now in my s-10 as a long block from the junkyard from a 57,000 s-10 blazer for 250. The one that just died (two snapped rods, nice window in block) was a 3.1 tbi stroker, edelbrock cam. thing scooted like hell.

or to save the trouble of machine costs, such as they are, you could just find yourself a wrecked 90-92 Rodeo with the said engine in it already, they came with the 3.1 as an option to the 4ZE1

I found a really cool site that gives a bunch of power tricks for this little engine. http://www.4x4wire.com/tech/60degreeV6/?, this basicly a little run down of what you can do with these engines.

Starting to make me rethink what engine i'm going to put in my Luv next. :P

Luvman,
please keep us posted on your swap. I'm looking at something very similar in the future and it'd be nice to have a good source to look at. Good luck!

Yeah, understand that. My LUV oppertunity came along at a very bad time...late winter is always a "poor" time of year for me anyway, and me and the girlfriend are both trying to get caught up on bills so we can have some free money rolling around and try to get into a bigger place. But I couldnt pass the deal on my LUV up, and once I do get it running, it'll pay for itself pretty quick in fuel economy.
Also, I understand how tough it can be to document every little step when you're doing an engine swap, but if you hit the high points, I'd be much appreciative. I'm thinking of installing a Chevy 4.3 instead of a Buick V-6, but it should be basically the same. I'm not looking for monstrous power, but I am building a serious off-roader, so to me the larger engine is desirable, especially for on-road travel trying to move around 1/2 ton axles and big tires. I'm very interested in anything you have to add about your swap project, and I'm more than a few months out from mine, so time is certainly not an issue. Thanx!

ya money is tight for me this time of year. during the summer i work my butt off and then some. to give you an example tomorrow will be the first time i worked this week. hopefully it will be about 4 hrs of work. I only have a 72 shirt job 2 colors so ill probably make it on 3 hrs.
my last paycheck was 170 bucks ( and it had a boost from my bonus [.03$ a shirt for the month)

I believe ive run into a snag on my engine. it is set up for front wheel drive. my dad thinks I can convert it to rearwheel just by changing the intake. Has anyone had such a problem? If so what did you do to combat this issue?

I really hope i did not buy a useless engine. my good day would be flushed and then some  .

It is gonna take some investigation but so far it looks like i need a tranny, intake, air filter (the idiot completely clipped the vacuum line). If the person that used a 2.8l chevy (the year is 83 i believe) sees this please pm me i got ALOT of questions.

oh, i hope i did not just blow 100 bucks.

This site seems to have a lot of info on the whole 60* v-6 family including swaps and fwd/rwd differences in the forums
