Depends on how much money you're willing to spend, and how good the rest of your system is. If you buy too much radio and have some 5 watt paper speakers in the floor, you're going to be dissapointed.

I like Pioneer and JVC, on a budget. One of the best radios I've ever had is Eclipse, by Fujitsu 10. They're VERY pricey though.

i have a pioneer in right now but it's a cassette but it puts out too much bass for my speakers to handle, it's also got Audio jacks in the back of the receiver but aparantly they're input, i hooked sterio speakers to them but no sound.... also the wireing harness i'm afraid is either screwd in how it was wired or it's the plug in the radio, either way i'm gonna probably junk it...

The audio jacks on the back are outputs that go to an amp. You won't get any sound out of them from just speakers.

good, so now for speakers... what should i use and where do they go??? i know there's holes behind the seat that look like they're for speakers buuttt.... they look tweeter size... so is there a way to make a decint sized box behind the seat (the seat in my truck is all the way back and my knees still hit the steering wheel when i shift) or should i just try to find a tonneu cover or get someone to make one so i can put a pre-made box in the back??

Get creative, thats all i can say. I have some Clarion 4" 3 ways in the kickpanels, and some 3" 2 way jobies in the small space in the behind the driver and passenger. oh and i also replaced the factory speaker with a 4x6" 3 way in the factory spot on the dash, so 5 in all, not bad, hope to build a small sub box to add some ummfff to the system. But keep in mind bigger is not always better. try to fit in small speakers where you can and then maybe have a 6 1/2" sub some where behind the driver or some thing, another idea that i'm looking into is to build a center console that as a small sub built into the back of it, that would save on space, and i know an amp can fit behind the passanger seat too.

i'm gonna go out on a limb and geuss that you've gotta 72-80 luv... i have a 82 which has a different dash and there's no room for speakers... but i can always get something built under the center console that could just fit a speaker.... IDK, but thanks for the info on what will fit in those holes i'll just look me up some prices and see what i could do with what i might get... ever...

BTW what is the measurements on your speakers in CM... the clarion site on ly has SI units for the round speakers.

(Just read your sig.. so you did have a 80 luv...)

Some people cut holes in their door panels and put little round ones in there.

I wouldn't if it were me, I'd get creative and find some little boxes I could put under the seat or behind it.

i used the pioneer set you get at walmart it came with 2 6x9's and two 6x5's?(not positive on the 6x5). they are all three way but it still sounds great. they are waterproof( i sunk my truck and after i pulled it out of the stream the cdplayer and speakers still worked). all in all not bad for 100 bucks

we'll there is my two cents

well my dad just gave me a good idea to make a box that would fit a 6x9 over the stock hole that fits the 4.5'' speaker in the kick panel, and then i'm gonna see about tweeters and a pioneer cd player... i'll see about woofers another day, (preferably after i move out or the truck's in my name, they don't really enjoy listening to music with so much bass it pops your ear's) ya know?

Welp(sorry to revive the old thread but it's the same topic, no?) The player i had finally broke last spring so in june i got another crappy cassette player from my dad that had no Bass/Treble controls on it, just music. This had a plus to it though, it came with a box with 2 6x9's in it  , but both speakers were in 1 box and were too deep, installed the player and hooked it up to my little 4" speakers i had, sounded OK but I wanted more, so we cut the box inhalf with a hacksaw and used a skillsaw to cut some off the back so it would fit behind the seat, hooked it up and sounded great! But when the bass hit it dimmed the display :( , so i knew the speakers were too big, so last saturday i was gonna go and buy a $250 PBgun and about $120 in accessories for it, didn't happen so I took a trip to best buy and got this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7044067&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03066&id=1099397002981 , it's so awsome and had it installed the next day, and the guys that did it installed it in under 15mins., it sounds sooo good, and it's got plenty of bass. I also burned a CD of some "bass testing" music, just music with LOADS of bass, this thing shakes the insides (and gives your butt a nice massage from the 6x9's).

But ya know, i hope it don't get jacked like others have, and we've got people keying cars at school, mine better not get touched.

actually it came like that, but the washers are startin' to rust up so Gotta swap em' out, and the thing's screw that keeps the door from swinging all the way down popped out.

I'll take some more later w/ the flash off.
