Well guys, the deal went through and as of March 1, 2005 I will own a farm. :D I bought 320 acres of farm land as well as the yard on the half section. The house is older (1960's), but well taken care of and was remodelled in the 80's. Also in the yard is a 40 x 60 foot shop with cement throughout. :) Plus a smaller shop, barn, a bunch of grain bins, etc. Hopefully sometime in the near future I am gonna insulate and wire the shop so I can spend all winter in there tinkering!! Also need to plant more trees around the yard, kind of bare. Other then that the place is immaculate! The actual farmland is prime grain farming land, and I got it at a steal of a price. Land prices are through the roof around here, $800 to $1000 an acre, and I didn't even pay close to that, plus the yard and everything in it was thrown into the land price. Hell of a deal if ya ask me!

I figured I should buy it, grain prices are kind of in a slump at the moment, but they will hopefully turn around soon, and this will set me up for some big oppurtunity's. Interest rates are low (7%), so it was a good time to buy.

Can't wait to move in and get things rolling now!!

Everyone have one on me...

:drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

Pics to come soon!!!

Now you just need a nice 4x4 LUV farm truck and you're set. ;)

My family used to farm grain, but with the money in it (or lack of) Dad has pretty much gone to selling hay and rebuilding farm equipment. They don't have near so much ground so its harder to get over the hump of keeping facilities/equipment up. Prime grain land is good for a lot of things though, clover or some legume works really well as a rotation crop. In the short term you could just lease out a big chunk of it and let someone else try to eke out a profit on it while you settle in and stock up on equipment. Whatever you do, good luck and good weather.

Thanks guys! :D

Hopefully this weekend I can get some pictures for you guys to see. Planning on heading over there to visit the old man thats still living there. As far as the drag strip is concerned, I don't think we got enough population to support it. :( Too bad, if we had more people in the area, I would give it some more serious thought!

Heres a picture of some of the land:

Pictures are kind of "Blah". Need some sun to brighten things up! I would have took more pics inside the yard, but there was too much snow and I only had my 2wd at the time

Thats a lot of land?? :? Where I come from thats small! My dad has about 8500 acres or so and rents more from some neighbors. I make just a small dent in land ownership with 320 acres!

How much is a big tract of land in Idaho? Some farmers in Alberta (neighboring province) have close to 80,000 or 90,000 acres! 8O
