Are there any LUV truckers in or around the Raleigh/Durham area? I've seen less than 6 LUV's including mine, and I would like to know if I'm all alone representing the great state of North Carolina in the land of LUV!!

That's 4 and counting... I just remembered a time when i was in traffic and a guy in a dump truck told me he had a truck just like mine, and a couple days before that i saw a Diesel LUV/PUP going down Peter's Creek PKWY, but i've seen countless 79 and lower luvs around my nick of the woods. i've never talked to one of them yet :( , but i have been asked if i wanted to sell my truck once... turned it down, it's just such a good little truck :) ... and the guy i think was in a prelude or wut-not

Are there any LUV's that need to be saved out that way, Finalman? I'd like to go out there and have a look at a few prospects if there are any worth my time.

there's the one out back that we wanna' get rid of, it's got 2 xtra carbs, if we can find a weber at a good price then we'll probably keep it, it's got some rust around the feul door, looks like someone spilled gas on it, and rust under hte rockerpanels (typical) it's a 81 4x4 though i can run it by my dad (he owns one half of the truck i own the other half) if he wants to get rid of it, so it's pretty much for sale unless we get a used weber carby. I'll keep you in mind, though i have told lil-blue about the truck.

welp, sold the truck so anyone that was interested in it could've gotten it for $600 which is what this kid got it for, he's gonna make payments on it but we didn't give him the xtra carbs.. we might try out ebay... or not...

I am in Fuquay, about 45 minutes from ya. My Truck is down cause of an ignitor that the local parts jokers here can't get.

In fact, if the kid don't pay ya, I will. :D

the current news on the kid is that he's got money "handeling" problems, he bought some electric drum set that he thought was just... well... drums... but he didn't read too close and it was a type of controller for some computer game... so now he wants to buy something else that's $75, but he's planning on keeping the truck since he's wanting to cleanup the crap-brown astro-turf floor it's got... but yeah if the kid doesn't want to keep it i'll tell my dad you'll need it and we can work something out. but we need $$ more than a laptop, im' planning on getting a CD player and new speakers for my truck...i'll just have to see who gives what and when

well i'm not sure if he's gonna give up on it yet, he says he's gonna call me about a problem about the truck he wasn't told about... but he was saying he was going to adjust the choke on the carb and i told him how, but he says it doesn't want to crank up for him... he outta' know a fuel injected 5l ford (his other truck with no working tranny... he stripped the syncros) won't crank like a CARBURATED luv... but yeah i will tell you if he does give up on it... but he may not so don't get your hopes up...

Good news and bad news,
Good: He's decided he can't use the truck and wants to give it back
Bad: We are swapping his truck for his 5L FORD, sry man i'd sell the truck to ya but, a little 1/2 for that big ford is a pretty good deal, but we'll be out about $250 and up for little fix-ups it needs (like a tranny, anti-freeze leak, and a o2 sensor...) but that'll be our spring time project... my dad's put a auto-trans in his old charger he had before in a day so i think it'll be a small uno-day project... cept that it'll be heavy lifting... you win-some your lose-some

Swapping the LUV for the 5L? Hmmm. Sounds like a downward trade.

the thing that goes on top of the coil went out on the kids few days ago and someones giving him a "free" carby since he used to do odd work for the guy... so he's getting that but i took him all over davidson co. to find a good ignitor for the coil, and no one had one, we went and found 2 older luv's with coils but the ignitor that sits on top isn't there... is this located somewhere in the truck perhaps?

He's keeping his ford and the luv and's gonna make payments on it when he gets his license back and gets a job

Heh Heh. When he gets his license is never good 8-)

The ignitor on the 81+ Luvs sits on the ignition coil. On the earier versions, it is run from a 12V relay under a panel on the passenger side firewall. Four screws and it comes off.
