 Post subject: Edelbrock air filter

although i'd like to put on a $40 K&N filter i saw this filter

and thought i should put it on my diesel for a better look, my ? is that are they just push-on or do they have something inside that bolts onto the stud in the center of the carb?

Well they are for pretty much 4 barrels. The bottom base has a ring the size of the 4 barrel opening and a bar that goes across it that screws into the middle of the carb. Hence me having a rochester 2 barrel, I had to beat the crap out of the base to get it even close to fit. It wasnt pretty. :oops: I think you might even have a harder time getting it to fit yours. If my truck was closer to me, I could show you pics but I cant. Sorry Todd

actually i was on your website looking at them when i did a search De-ja-voo, but i probably would be able to put it on the neck of the intake since it's 5 1/8 in., i'll just see if it works, if it does marry christmas to me, if it doesn't, marry christmas to edlebrok...

I got one of those, never took it out of the plastic to install it cause i was scroungin up $$ to get my truck painted

paint-$500
money i had-$480
K$N-$40

so i returned it to get my truck painted... i'd like to get an intake fabbed up just like a header only it has a filter on the end... wonder how much HP that'd get somethin... hmmmmm

I have looked at those air filters and it would seem like they would flow all that good because they are a thick solidish foam stuff.

I had one of those triangle shaped air filter assy on my first Buick V-6 motor (2 bbl) and i would not recommend it. It shown signs of dirt passing to the motor between the foam and the base plate. Even with greasing the lip of the element, it still didn't filter air very well.
It looks great but it's almost useless. Just about anything else would be better.
