I'm new to the site and wondering about a 1978 4X4 Luv longbed I'm installing a V8 into. It has a metal tag riveted to the joor jamb that says "N.W. A.T.V. MFG INC. Kelso WN"

This appears to have been a 2 wheel drive that was converted to 4X4 by this company. The passenger side floorboard has been hammered up from the bottom about 1-1/2" to clear the transfer case.

The pickup has a "live" or solid front axle like a Jeep with leaf springs. The transfer case is a Dana 20, 2 speed, cast iron and is divorced from (not attached to) the transmission. The transfer case is behind the trans and hooked up with a constant velocity u-joint.

Does anyone have any info on this conversion company? I'd like to find out the front axle type or what is was originally intended for.

*EDIT- I found out it's a Dana 30 from a 78-9 Jeep CJ-5 with Dana 44 hubs from a 70's Jeep Cherokee.

It measures 41" balljoint to balljoint, has disc brakes and the 6 lug Luv bolt pattern. Also interested in the model # of the Spicer transfer case or any other info about this company.[/b]

Interesting. I've seen an old Datsun truck that had been converted by a company also. I don't remember if it was the same name though.

Hmm welcome and way off topic, I think you now hold the record for resurrecting the oldest post ever, just short of 3 years old!! Nice

TunedPerformance, good luck on your project. I finished mine up then broke the transfercase and a front axle with the SBC V8 / T350. Here's a photo of it right before I sent it down the road.

Now working on a 3/4 ton S10 ExCab but it will be the correct width. Using a Wagoneer Dana 44 front axle and a narrow Dana 60 out back. Also going with a 1969 472 Caddy motor, 700R4 trans and a divorced NP205 transfercase from a Ford F250

BTW a few months ago I bought/sold a 1985 Ford Courier that was made by the same company in WA. It had the same front axle and T/C as the Luv

WOW, it's already been 3 years... How time flies

Yea, had the email notification turned on. I haven't been around here cuz I sold the Luv a couple of years ago. Been fooling with S10's lately.

Built a 2WD Blazer with a solid lifter 375/327 and Muncie 4 speed.
Put a Trans Am scoop on it for forced cold air.

Here's the P.O.S. ExCab S10 4X4 I've been working on.
1st pic is the day I bought it last September
2nd is about 3 weeks ago, before the hacking of the IFS had begun

Sorry I don't have any pics of the Courier. I bought it to just resell
