I just got my truck back from the shop (head gasket, took em two months :( ) and when i tried to start it up and go home I could hear the starter spinning but the engine wasnt turning. Eventually, it turned over and fired. Now when I shut it off It sometimes does the same thing. I really dont have any ideas, Ive had the truck since april and have no clue how old the starter is. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Oh ya, dont know if it makes any difference but,

you could try cleaning the battery terminals and making sure you have good connections at the starter, but you will probably need to replace the starter...

If the starter shaft where the gear is dirty, this can impede the gear from meshing with the flywheel.
