so today i came across a 5.3l vortec out of a 2003 truck 20k on it and the guy rolled the truck motor works perfect though, so anyway i got the motor for $500 couldnt pass it up. Does anyone know where i can get some info on this thing it looks as it could be a very complicated process putting it in my truck as it has individual coils its just crazy the advancements on this thing. anyway does anyone have any info on these or know where i can get some thanks alot

did you get the wiring harness ( I hate newer engineg, so many wires, so damn complicated)

I work at a Chevy dealer. What info do you need?

IMO, you've gotta have the engine harness and computer just to start with.

yeah, i have to find a computer and harness i'll be goin to the local junkyards to find one otherwise ebay will probley have one. is the 2003 5.3l harness the only one i can use or will the ls1 harness work aswell and r there different yrs that will work as well thanks alot. o and does anyone have any experiance on wiring these things to work. thanks alot

To ease the process, I'd find a harness from the same engine.

When you get to needing wiring schematics I can PROBABLY get you some.

ooh,ooh just the conversation I'm looking for sort of. Same track though. A LS1 in a luv. I've got a 2001 ls1/autotrans for my 87 chevy 1/2ton, complete with everything, measured the luv engine compartment and the engine too just out of curiosity... I must say it's a whopper of a motor but luv the ideal of no distributor. However the measurements say the gas torch/recip saw would come into play.
