WELL........I HAVEN'T POSTED A WHILE ....SORRY!
JUST HAD A QUESTION ABOUT MY STOCK(FOR THE MOST PART) 1.8 FOUR BANGER. I HAVE A LOT OF BLOW BY COMING OUT OF THE CRANKCASE, I THINK I CRACKED A PISTON RING. I AM THINKING OF REBUILDING IT. I AM A MANAGER AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS SO I CAN GET THE BASIC REBUILD PARTS PRETTY CHEAP. JUST WONDERED IF ANYBODY CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON A TASK LIKE THIS. THIS WOULD BE MY FIRST TIME. I WANT TO PUT A S/B IN IT, BUT DON'T HAVE THE DOWN TIME FOR THAT YET. ANY ENCOURAGEMENT AT THIS POINT WOULD BE APPRICIATED.

i remember someone telling me once that they rebuilt the 1.8 in a luv and didnt have to pull the motor. just drop the front cross member and oil pan, pull the head, and as long as it dont need bored, just put all the new goodies in :D
but i may be wrong and they may be full of sh*t

the second time i tore into my 4banger i dropped the crossmember and oil pan. didn't take up as much room but it would have been easier to work on if the motor was on a stand. besides if u pull the motor, u get a good look at your clutch..mines a 75 2wd by the way

My thoughts are to just piece together the stock motor for now and get everything lined up for the conversion. Just fix what needs to be fixed. You could end up spending more on the stocker than the V motor. As for downtime, thats something we all have had to deal with. The more you get lined up, the faster the job.
