I thought that I heard, when the show first started, that Bluebear was his nephew or something, could be wrong though.

bluebear is an idiot.
Even though it was bluebears ride it was still being built at Boyds shop and would have been connected to the shop. how would it look if the car is going down the road and fell in half.....peeps would say "that was built at Boyds shop"
He has a reputation to uphold.
I can totally see that it was bluebears ride, but he wasn't looking at the whole picture.
If I was building a vehicle at work, someone else was paying for it and they were telling me to do something for SAFETY I would listen.
