I just noticed this last weekend that Boyd's shop/ studio is right by my house, about 4 miles away in La Habra. 8O I'm sure you've seen his show on cable I can't think of the name at the moment.
I was going to the parts place for my 72 GMC 1 ton and just noticed the sign.

to tell you the truth, i've never heard of him until the show. sweet ass rims but i still think he's a asshole. seems like all he does is run around telling people what to do. i don't see him getting his hands dirty.

I totally agree with you!!!! I hate that show, just 'cause he's so annoying! It's like he knows nothing about the cars, everyone who actually works on them always seem to get annoyed with him, too. and his stupid Hawaiian shirts drive me up the wall. lol

I'm thinkin' cause if everyone did their job efficiantly, there wouldn't be enough drama to be worth watching. So basically he's doing exactly what he's supposed to, keep people interested.

He's probably Boyd's nephew or something, I know he wouldnt last a week if that was my shop!!!
Found out something else intersting about that company. Well Boyd wheels arent all Boyd wheels. Last week the 2 10 inch wide rear rims came in but no fronts, well the owner called them to see when the front 8 inch wide wheels would arrive. Come to find out, they dont make the hoop, they buy them from somebody else and the 8 inch hoops were on back order. So when you buy Boyd wheels, the only Boyd part is the face/hub of the rim. :? Funny how you can become a "Legend" at something when you half ass everything!!!! 8O

Yep, he's gone but for some strange reason, i dont like the situation for firing him. I didn't think much of him and i wouldn't want to hire him but if i was told that i had to build my vehicle a certian way, I'd have to say you can kiss my ass. Coddington should have killed the project and that would have been the end of it. If Bluebear wanted to build a flexi-flyer, then he's allowed to screw up his ride on his own. Boyd should have dropped the project and left Bluebear to build his rod his own way on his own, with his own time and money. BB is a dork to mess things up. It's not every day that someone will finance a rod build AND pay you an hourly wage to do it.

Sounds like an interesting show. Building your own rod on someone elses dime doesn't happen too often...(at least not to me.)

Basicly, the show is like American Chopper. Custom builds on a deadline and the soap opera trauma that comes along with it.
The situation with this particular build is that Coddington aquired an old model A or T Ford that was in near perfect shape and was going to build a hot rod out of it. Some of the crew were negative with the idea of ruining such a stock, vintage vehicle and the ideas that Boyd had for mods seemed to be too much for the concept of a "Rat Rod". So a contest was brewing between the older customizers (Boyds crew) and Bluebears younger crew. Bluebear had a body and frame so Boyd decided to have a competition for the 2 Rat Rod cars. Coddington was footing the bill on both cars and Bluebear was the boss over his own car. Bluebears half-assed approach wasn't safe enough for Boyd and he resented Boyd's input on the direction of the build. There was a battle for control and in the end, Bluebear lost and lost big time.

I think Bluebear should have just let the frame be boxed and went on with it. 8O
They were supposed to be able to drive to Kentucky after all.
Oh well.

Yes, it was half-assed not to box the frame. That flathead motor would have raised hell on the frame and it had some minor cracks in it. But Bluebear was dead set on keeping the frame as it was. It's his car so ultimately it was his decision. If his reason was only for cosmetics, then he's not very experienced at all at building serious cars. But i do respect the fact that he was not going to build his car to someone elses concept. My truck is build to my way of thinking and if someone offered to foot the bill to maybe slam the truck to the ground, i would decline. It's not what i want.
I am wondering why Bluebear was given the opritunity to get a financed build on his car? Is he related to Coddington? There was one point in the last episode where Boyd stated that he wished he could fire him. That sounds like something that a family member would say. Or is it because Coddington has sunk too much money in to the build to back out of it. If so, he finally came to the decision that he would take the hit and get rid of Bluebear.
