 Post subject: 350 stroker
PostPosted: Mon Nov 29, 2004 12:28 am
so i'm going to buy an old 400 smallblock from a guy and take the crank shaft and put it in my 350 small block and turn it into a 350 stroker instead of a 383 stroker. what else will i need besides a new flywheel to put the new crank shaft in?

the balancer as well as the flywheel....

yes I think so a 383 is a .030 over 350 with a 400 crank

He never WENT to tech school. He goes to my HIGH school. Cut him some slack, not all of us have the luxury of having professional training or a family with a mechanical influence.

look wackado......I AM SAYING THAT IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE PRINCIPLES OF A MOTOR......intake ,compression, combustion and exhaust ,its hard to relate to anything when working on a motor, you would be surprised at the people ,even in here who don't have a concept and just a simple course would steer them in the right direction,,I learned lthe same way, trial and error,I am not cutting this guy down, but you need to get info=with substance from guys who can explain and know what they are talking about, not friends who sometimes know less than you do,and you can learn an abundance from the internet, that is true.........just learning the simple principle of A motor, how and why will help you out tremendously, take a chill pill wackado..........people throw 'stroker motor, destroked, etc around in forums and honestly have NO idea what they are saying.......I was once the same way...I am saying Stan, try to get info from guys who know theur stuff and can help you, don't confuse friends with business......its just not a smart thing to do.....i WISH you well,we are hear to help, best of luck!!!

damn, cool down a bit, DW. Just because you have one of the fastest luv's... probably ever doesn't mean you need to be so condescending. All i was doing was letting you know that he's just doing what research he can before he can start on this project. Maybe its not the best idea for an inexperienced person like himself to do, but damn. If you're not gonna be helpful, don't knock a person for trying. And what's with this whackado shit? I never said a word against you, take it down a knotch.
Damn, where's the luv??

i'm trying to tell the guy to get into a tech school or semester in h.s/college etc...and learn the basics so you will know what someone is talking about....and not when someone is bs ing you.....you would be surprised of ones who don't know the firig order of a sbc or anything else...you have to get around knowledgeable people, even if its to help them on their OWN vehicle and work for free.......there is no price on knowledge=none..This can save you $$$$$$$$$$ in the garage.....and make you feel better about yourself...nothing like working/stripping down your equipment and putting it back together and seeing it run..nothing beats that....that was a typo ..mikado........

I totally agree with you, DW. I wouldn't go about a task like this without some kind of formal or informal schooling, or the backing of someone who has that kind of resource. I wasn't knocking your point, in fact i totally back it up, it just seemed a little abrasive. I'm sure we all wish him luck, and larp, you're right. He'll have a good resource with this site. Some top knotch chevy guys here. Good luck, stan.

just to insert my two cents here, I speak from experience when I say that when you don't have the time, money, etc, to go to a school or take a class, just learning through the experience and the knowledge of friends and family is the best way to go. I definitely do not know everything, definitely definitely not, but everything I have learned I haven't learned from a class. Hands on is the way to go! If you have questions about what you're doing, then you can refer to all kinds of websites, your school's auto tech teacher, auto shops, manuals and more. And if you do it wrong, then just start over. Practice makes perfect so you might as well get started.

Good luck!!!

ps I've been to that howstuffworks website, very very great, with all sorts of moving animations of engines. Very nice website.

Dude it's great that you have one of the fastest Luv's I have ever seen, and it's also great that you know your way around an engine, but good grief, at least have a little respect and patience for those of us who aren't as talented as you when it comes to working on engines, we're still learning for pete's sake!!!!! and don't be so quick to judge us man. Let me ask you this how much did you know about engines and how much hands on time did you have when you were 16? see many of us are pretty young here and you can't expect us to know every thing when we're only 16 or 18. man

where has all the luv gone?!!!!!!
