I removed the stock heat sensor and installed a temp guage. The other day while driving my "HEAT" light suddenly came on. The next time I got in it was out again and then a few times later it's back on. The wire is tied up and not toughing anything. The temp guage works fine. WHAT'S UP  :?:

The heat light is supposed to come on when the catalytic converter gets too hot. It has nothing to do with with engine temp at all. Only California emissions trucks would have the parts for it to work correctly. That said, on my 77 non-cali truck, the heat light will come on every couple of years, usually right when I'm winding the motor out fairly tight accelerating. I've never been able to find a wiring problem that would cause it. If your truck is from cali and has the some of the parts still left on it you could have a bare wire floating around someplace. If you actually do have a cat, it could be clogged up and overheating. I'd check around for stuff like that, if nothing is shorting and likely to cause a fire, just take the bulb out of the gauge cluster and forget about it.
