Hi folks.
I thought I'd join your board due to my never-ending interest in diesels, and the fact I have a truck running a Isuzu diesel, same as the one you guys have. Mine happens to be in a 1991 GMC Sonoma extra cab, with a 5 speed behind it. The truck didn't come with this, it originally had a 4.3L auto that I took out after buying this truck so I could put in the diesel.
To save boring you about this, here is a link with the whole story :
http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat. ... &fpart=all

It's rather long reading.

Even though I don't have a LUV, I thought maybe I could contribute to the board. I can't help much with specific truck problems, but I possibly can help with the motor aspect.

Your post is the exact reason I'm here. I'm glad you posted it. So you're probably familiar with my way-too-long post then. I just figured it's easier to keep all the relevant information  together on my ol' truck. :D

Happy to be here. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

I am about 2 hours northeast of Halifax. I hope she enjoys the Maritimes.

Just wondering, how much is fuel there? Regular price around here is 88.9¢/L, but I go to a small garage that sells it for 84.9, even when it was averaging 94.9 a week ago here.

Gas is around 79.9. In the city its about 84.9. Small towns, depending where you are its less then 79.9.

Welcome again, nice to have a fellow Canadian on the Board! :)

Yea, like beaver pelts, my friend. Nuttin' like sittin around the igloo, drinking a brewski, with the diesel rattlin away outside, eh.

Us Canucks gotta get up off our chesterfield and get with it, eh. :D

j/k

Just for fun, even at 84.9¢/l, that would be $3.21 per US gallon, or $3.86 a UK gallon. Don't ya just LOVE Canadian fuel prices?

I've started gathering parts to set up for burning used veggie oil. First attempt at it, and have been slow getting it going. As my drive to work is only <25 minutes to work, the truck would never warm enough to warm the oil to use, so it would be for longer drives. However, I'm still going to do this.
Hey, I'm crazy enough to put a diesel in a perfectly good truck, so why stop now?

:silly:

You can use Veggie Oil, or you can use Canola Oil (canadian grown form of rapeseed) . Bio diesel is formed from canola oil and an alcohol mixed together, basically. Lot more science to it, but I cannot remember it all. Hardly any fossil fuels are used in the process. Theres a few city buses running around that run on Bio Diesel, supposedly they run a lot cleaner. :) Won't be long till diesels are running on legumes..
