Trying to salvage an 81 4wd that runs good but the rear part of the frame is rotted. It is so bad I may find my self dragging the middle down the road. Looks like somebody welded it at one time but it is cracking in a different spot now. I have 2 76's with better frames and thought about cutting one of them in half to replace the rear part of the 81. Does anybody know if the dimisions on those frames are the same?

If not does anyone know if you could make a tube frame to attach to the the original front part or if anyone has a tube frame kit. In TN it seems a lot of the LUV frames are rusted to the point of no return.

One of my 76's had no rust at all from AZ until it got to TN and is rusting down in less then 5 years just sitting outside.

While I am asking. Anybody ever try putting a step side S-10 bed on a LUV
Thanks

Luv this site thought I was the only nut that that loved LUVs

Not sure about the rear, but the front has some differences. If you can pull the beds off and check them out....

Is the frame longer on a long bed, or is it just the bed??

The frame is longer on a long bed.

The 4WD frame does have some differences, depending on what you are looking to do they may or may not matter. For example, you can't simply unbolt the front axle and bolt it right up to a 2wd frame without doing a little cutting/welding, but you can pull the cab off a 2WD and bolt it to a 4WD. (provided you cut a hole for the 4WD shifter at least)

Oh, can you just cut back the frame some, or is that a pain. Was wondering cuz if I came across a long bed{which I don't care for} and was reall nice, I wouldn't want to miss out on a good deal just cuz its a long bed.

Youd have to cut out of the middle section. Because the tires are further back from the cab on a long bed.
