got this today....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7932101246&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

who knows what kind of exaust system i need to have made to go with it?
i'd like to have a cat. but it's not the most important part....i'm just worried about losing more torque, i lost a bit when i put the weber and cam in.

as far as "the kind" well, what ever kind you want! If you take it to a muffler shop, they will build what ever you want, or can afford. Just run from the header, a turbo muffler or a glassPack {if you want it loud} and call it good.

Gents I do believe he still has to pass inspection, so just a turbo or glasspack is out and I assume that is why he needs a cat...
I would take it to a shop and see if they can give you an idea of what you need...

thanks dennis.... i don't need to get this thing inspected though....it's in the family and i only need it done with a title transfer.

the cat converter is more a matter of responcibility instead of manditory...i have an evap and pcv system and am just trying to be responcible siince i'm not an exception like shelby america.

Ok, since you want to be "responsible" and have to have a cat, i suggest that you go to your shop or a muffler shop, and have them give you some pointers. As for my recommendation i'd say have a high flow cat put oon and a turbo or MagnaFlow muffler put on as well.

Hey leave it to me my dad is the muffler man well if your going w/v8 I recomend the flowmaster or big macs if you gat a 6cyl in it than i would go with somthing like a glasspack or just a resignator if you got the 4cyl than i would do strait pipes with the mufflered silverline tips they sound good and dont look like somthing of a forign car... but thats just my advise ive heard all the mufflers almost. hey if you want to drive to spokane WA you could even have him do it.

most machinests have a connect for delta cams and i scored the fuel pump on e-bay for $29.

as for what's wrong w/ delta cams.... well i have heard that there re-grinds aren't exactly spec sometimes(from quite a few sources)..... not in my experence, but i still made damn sure that i miked it before i paid for it.

the advice i needed was what sise pipe to use though..... when you lose back pressure in a 4 cyl engine you lose some torque too.

i've decided to get 2 1/2 inch pipe to a cat then to a flowmaster and then dump out the side in front of the rear wheel.

if anybody thinks this isn't a good idea then i'd love to hear an argument as to why........never hurts to have a second opinion.

Hey sounds good I like the flow master but 2 1/2 pipe thats pretty big for a 4 cyl but my opinion is that you should have it from the header to 3feet of 2 1/2 pipe to the super 40 flow master (single in) and dump it at the muffler and the put a duel out on the flow master w/2 1/2 pibe and then angle it out right behing the rear wheel on both sides w/some crome pensil tips... drool. DONT put that worthless peice of crap cat on makes the flowmaster loose that awsome sound down to a ok sound

I thought i would ask this question while everybody was talking about it.

How much difference, or perfomance will putting a new header on add?

just curious and trying to learn.

so far i've put a weber carb on this thing along with a hot ignition, along with being bored over .30 with a cam to match and i can FEEL that the exaust manifold is restricting the flow through the engine.i feel that there's at least another 15 hp i can get out of this thing. that and the fact that i keep blowing exaust doughnuts

having the intake manifold polished and machined to the weber carb made a difference when i had it done so the more flow the better i guess......

the only thing i can think of is getting the head and intake ported out and polished. i had the intake on mine re cut so there wasn't a piece of aluminum for fuel to drop out on(right there at the carb)

I don't know what specs to port the head at but that would be something that you and a PRO machinest would have to work out.... if you go that route let me know .....maybe your machinest could make a few bucks off me too.....

I couldnt tell you how much, but running a header versus a stock manifold will kick up your H.P some.

i got the Header in today.... fired it up as a test. DAMN IT'S LOUD..... i'm hoping that i make it to the muffler shop tomorrow morning without sucking a valve.

i lost a little torque ,but not as much as when i put the weber in.. i took it for a spin and Damn..... i must of had a chunk of catilitic brick stuck in my old muffler cause this thing runs like a raped ape now.

the muffler guy advised me not to go with pipe bigger than 2 1/4 inch ......so i'm going with 2 1/4 from the header then dump out the pass side in front of the rear tire.

he's setting this system up with two flanges so when i start my 4wd i'll be able to transfer all the exaust over.

before i had the weber re-jetted ,with just the cam, bore and weber(baseline jets) i was pushing 97 hp and 115 ftlbs..... at the rear wheels.
