Hey, does anyone else out there have any built models of Luv trucks they've done? If so, how about some pics? Just wondering, cause I'm working on a Luv truck drag model now and I also have built a Luv drag slot car (truck). I recently tried out drag slot racing and watch out guys, it's addictive. I'm having a guy in Chicago build me a pro mod Chevy Luv drag slot right now. I'll post some pics when I get it along with my other stuff. Just curious if there's others out there with similar interests.

I have models of all my vehicles I had (have) except my 84 S10 blazer as NO ONE makes an early S-series blazer.

Cool! Yea, I gave up trying to make the fenders look right, just smoothed out the flare a little. Noyz, you can still find the models on Ebay, there was a white one with a topper, a orange stepside, a 4x4 called the Mojave Mule, another 4by called High Roller. Those were all monogram models and revell made a chopped stepside in a couple of different versions, one called the LUV machine and another called River Rat that had a trailer with a motorcyle or jetski behind it.
Here are 2 on Ebay right now

Later Todd
ps they are 1/24th scale
Oooohhh..just checked the completed ones, looks like they are going for a pretty penny!! 8O

Tilted I can't believe how much yours resembles your truck, it is really sweet looking. How did you paint the different colors?

Those are some way cool looking models. I can't wait to see the Luv drag slot that JCR racing is building for me. This guy builds some awesome stuff. It may be too nice to race, lol. Luv models are periodically available on Ebay or at swap meets, but they are getting a little more scarce. I snatch one up when I can. I'll try to get a couple of pics up in a day or two. By the way, I too, hate those fender well things on the Luv models, but I'm afraid of screwing up a perfectly good body trying to sand them down. Any ideas??

By the way, wicked, it looks like you did a lot of filling and putty work on that truck, am I right? Looks pretty sharp. Also, what kind of chassis is that underneath? Did you build something custom? I'm wanting to attempt a tube chassis for the Luv I'm starting, but never done that before. I've always just backhalved the other truck models I've built. I'd like this one to be different. I need some input from other builders. Funny, sounds like I'm talking about my real Luv.

yeah i was nervous to attempt the fenderwell change too.. but i couldnt build it like it was. i just heated up the flare, pushed it down smooth, then cut it out, and made cardboard fednerwells and glued them in and smoothed it out. i still have to do the pass. side front one.. its ready to be cut out... and yeah there a lil but of putty on er  the chassis is the stock chassis.. i started backhalfing it then kinda stopped working on my models once i got a job... so its got a long ways to go. heres a pic of how i did the fenderwell.. where the putty is.. thats cardboard underneath it...

Well wicked, you are pretty clever and my hats off to you for your creativity. I've been building models for a long time and got into slots in the past couple of years. They're basically model bodies on wire chassis, but more expensive. I think models are cheaper and less stressful! Anyway, I'd like to see a pic whenever your done with it. I'll probably just build this one as a backhalf because I'm not sure about building a tube chassis out of plastic tubing, ya know? To answer Dr. Luv's question, I've been going to swap meets for years and Luv models are definately uncommon, though not impossible to find. Your best bet would be to score one on ebay. I've never paid more than $25-$30 for one and I've bought several. The step-side seems to be the most $$$ most of the time. But even these usually go for less than $30. Good luck.
