Hey everybudy, I have a question. Is it a common problem to have a hesitation when you apply the gas, especially when it is cold? This makes it so that whenever I go to take off, I have to immediatly cram on the gas and rev the engine high, if I dont, it will miss and try to die. Any help would be apprecaited

sounds like an accellerator pump problem on the carburetor.

If the engine doesn't idle smooth when warm, you may have a vacuum leak.

I thought that it was the accellerator pump as well, but when I rebuilt my carborator, the kit didnt come with an accellerator pump that would work. I salveged another pump from another LUV and that still didnt fix the problem. Then I found a compatable pump and that STILL didnt work  . It very well might be a problem with the vacume, how would I check that and fix it. Everything seems to be in order. Thanks for the help

Visually inspect all the vacuum hoses for split ends and loose connections. Repair or replace the bad ones. Don't forget the big vacuum hose going to your power brakes. If that doesn't help, cap off all the small line vacuum sources on the carb and intake manifold except the vacuum spark advance hose and see if this cures the hesitation. If so, then start putting the hoses back on until the trouble returns. That'll tell you where the trouble is. If none of this helps, post back again.

Well, I figgured it out. All this time when I thought that it was the accellerator pump, it turned out to be the vaccume lines, they were all crappy and I am going to replace them all. Thanks for all the help
