I've seen his show a couple of times and i dont get him. I haven't seen him actually put a wrench to any vehicle. How did he get so famous? I see him as a middleman. Kinda like that woman from "Trading Spaces". If somebody can shed some light about FMF, i would apreceate it.

I saw on the 'net that he is some famous rap "artist" and he's apparently know for his automotive style.

OK, He went from music to automotive. So he made a name for himself in the music industry and with that he became a somewhat "Bling Bling Expert". Is this basicly correct? This would make sense because he seems to be a less than adequate gearhead when it comes to making stuff go. He's more into show.

He made a name as a rapper and then when he got all that "mad cash", he did the bling thing on his auto's. I guess the producers of the show decided he would bring in the fans of the types they wanted. Not sure if i agree.

Well i think it's more of the current trend. To some, image is everything. Substance is secondary.
The wost case of this i've seen is the show "Pimp my Ride". It's all "show" and no "go". They did an episode where a Luv was fixed up. Everything they did to the truck was cosmetic except for the audio and video systems. Not one thing was done to the anemic, stock motor and with the electronics added to the truck, they must have had to add some kind of auxillary charging system to be able to power everything. Which would have made the truck truly gutless. The truck looked worlds better than it did mind you, but knowing that there's a stale 1.8 under the hood just has me thinking that it's a paper lion.

BLUE MEANIE said"Paper Lion".

Hear Hear.........I have never heard that term used before.....just goes to show that old dogs can learn new things.

The "Gimp my ride" luv seemed like a waste of time, and It's not just the television shows lately, but the whole core of American culture that seems so superficial on the outside without caring what's going on inside.

It just seems like the world is putting too much emphasis on "Pretty Book Covers" when they could be reading Shakespeare(figurativly). :?

Then again...they are the ones spending the money

I think the description of FMF I heard was that he has liked cars his whole life and likes customizing them. Jeez...how many of us fall into that category?? How he got his own show I'll never understand cause I personally think the show sucks.

I agree with your comments on Pimp My Ride too. Did you see the one where they put an Espresso machine in the center console of a girls car? Yeah, thats useful  Practically every car they do gets a chandelier in it too.

I'd really prefer if they put 20 grand under my hood and left the outside lookin' crappy.

Yeah - just like everyone (well females for the most part) are into the extreme makeovers, plastic surgery, weight loss surgery, whatever. Everyone seems not to care whats on the inside anymore, it's all superficial crap, I always thought it was whats on the inside that was what mattered, people or cars! My next ride is going to be primer grey, with a crazy high-dollar drivetrain.
