Well i finished the lift, and started to get the RezLuv back into working condition, but i have a few set backs.
1. After I get the truck started it'll run for a while and then just die, like the fuel pump isn't working or something, but i checked it and it's working just fine, checked the fuel filter but thats fine too. it's like the carb will get full of fuel and then as soon as the carb's empty it just dies.

I have the idea that this is a problem with the float bowl adjustment, but i'm not 100% sure on this, so any help would be nice. And yes i know the best way to solve the problem is to buy a Weber, but i can't do that just yet. I'm a poor college student with Zero money  , i did just get hired by Wal-Mart  but i won't be starting untill sometime next week or the week after, and i won't get my first paycheck untill sometime after that so this fix is only temporary untill i get the $$$ to buy a Weber. I hope you all under stand and will help thanks

There should be a little round port hole looking thing in the side of your carb on the bowl, pointing to the front of the truck if I remember right. It's a sight glass used to determine your fuel level. It's suppose to stay right in the middle of the glass.

If it's emtying out the carb you might wanna try some cheap fuel filters before taking the carb apart.

Make sure the float is floating up and down and the needle valve is not sticking closed.

check all your rubber fuel lines. they could have a crack and be sucking air, i have had several old cars over the years that had this problem.

I just went though a similar situation, only it turned out that I had a tank with a layer of pink sludge in the bottom. It was thick enough to cover the pickup tube, and why it was pink I have no idea. Anyhow, I got to run through all the other possibilities before I pulled the tank off. The posts so far cover the mechanical side of things very well. There is a bit of a twist to the fuel pump electrical side though that I still have to fix on mine. Its wired to the heater blower power right now. Anyhow, here's my theory:

It sounds to me like the pump is working, but only when you turn the key to start. There is a relay under that mysterious metal box right behind the coil that drives the pump. You turn the key to start, the pump goes. With the key at "On", the motor has to be turning for the pump to go. Just wanted to make that clear so you can make sure it is working at all the right times. If the pump isn't working other than at startup, you get about 30 seconds worth of fuel in the carb, so it sounds like a good explanation to your problem.

If it turns out that is the case, you will have a bit of troubleshooting to do. The relay could be bad, but it is driven from the voltage regulator, so that could be bad too, or the alternator. Barring those, you also have the wiring to blame. Usually, the relay goes out, or you notice problems with the alt/reg prior to complete failure so you know to look at them.

I will look into the relay problem, i'm not sure thats it though because I get about 1min of fuel before it dies. on another note, Pink!!!!!!! sludge thats the weirdest thing i'v ever heard of!!!! i'll look into that too although i don't think thats the problem either. Thanks for all of the help, vyou guys are the greatest!!!! I'll give ya all an update after i tinker with it this weekend.

Ok! I just had the same exact problem, start the truck and it will run for about 15-25 seconds? Try the alternator. From what i learned from some friends the starter circut runs the fuel pump for starting, then the alternator sustains it. So if your alternator is bad, the starter circut will fill the bowl, then it won't get anymore, I replaced the alternator *Poof*
Truck worked.

Well I hope that helped alil bit ...
