There will be no fuel injected turbo 2.0 going in my luv. I got the engine torn down, and the crank came out in two pieces. The turbo is locked up and the computer is rusted from getting soaked with rain. One of the injectors is broken, and there are bits and bobs missing from the wire harness. I guess I will just restore my truck, and warm the 1.8 up a little. I will also add a lower gear to make up for the tire size.

More money to be spent than I want to on a daily driver. I would have to find another block, crank and head, along with new injectors, and a turbo. Thats alot of scratch for me right now.

Its a shame all that Impulse turbo motor kit is so trashed. One thing you will want to be getting out of the car is the rear diff. Those 10 bolt Isuzu limited slip diffs are not easy to come by any more. Hopefully the prior driver that popped the motor didn't take the rear end with it, but I kinda doubt that. The only potential problem is the gear ratio not matching the front, but you should be able to swap the diff carrier and put the LUV ring and pinion with the LSD. I'm not even that sure the ratio will be different on the impulse from the LUV. You could also get 4.56s out of a 86-87 trooper with 10 bolt rear and 8 bolt front diff.

Oh yeah, grab that 5Spd out of the car if you decide to crush it. Someone around here is bound to want that for a 2WD LUV if it is in any kind of condition at all. (Too bad OK is a bit far or I'd be offering you something for it) ;)

I think I found a buyer for the rear end and tranny. He is taking the whole car, so anything he might need will be with it.

A question, Could you use the L.U.V. bottom end with the Izuzu head and fuel injection? keeping with the LUV tranny and rear end.
I would really like to explore those options for my 1979 4X4,
Obviusly they didn't make a 4X4 impulse ><

Thanks

I am not sure if the 2.0 head will bolt on to the 1.8 block. Someone with more brains than me will have to chime in.

I don't really know. The engine is a 2.0 fuel injected turbo charged out of an 83 impulse.

The G200 is only a 1.9litre engine.

I replied in the other post, but just so it doesn't come up in a search later:

G180/G200 heads are different from 4ZC1 turbo impulse heads. Timing belt on the 4Z series motors vs timing chain on G series motors. There are too many holes that won't line up, like the coolant bypass on the front of the motor for starters. Intake/exhaust ports are pretty close though, so the injection and turbo are likely to bolt to the G180/200 head.

Someone should explor this, I wish junk yards would just give the parts away for free... there's two impulses in my local yard now, one is N/A and the other is turbo, the only thing I see taken from it is the intercooler... i'd try to bolt it to my dead motor in the back to at least see if it worked....
