hi yall i just found this great site. im a new member. im 16. anyways last year a freind gave me a chevy luv if i moved it so i brought it up. i got it running needed a new fuel pump. had a good engine. problem was it didnt have a tittle the guy that owned it went to prison for 30 years and he had lost the tittle. Anyways dads garage burnt down and he had my truck towed off.

anyways i loved that little truck so much it was a 1974 luv 4x4 that truck would go anywhere i took it through swamps all kinds of places. i loved that truck. i went to the junkyard to get it back but they crushed it already. anyways im gonna take body and fender next year and i realy wanna buy a luv to fix up. theres alot around here but just rust bombs. i figure i could buy a few and build one nice truck. but my dad wont let me. he says there junk and dont want them sitting here. says they were good in there day but to far gone now. i really want one bad ive worked all summer and i wanna buy one.

any suggestions on how i could talk him into it?

Ask him to co-sign for a rather expensive vehicle. You have to be serious. Keep asking him about it. Then after a couple of weeks tell him you did some checking on insurance, gas, and payments and you've decided to with something a little less extravagant...say a 89 vette. repeat first process. Then tell him, finally when you realize you're just going to have to be more realistic in what you want. Then show him the site and how nice the trucks can be.

BTW luv's were'nt available in 1974 as a 4wd. Maybe DR. Frankenluv got ahold of the truck be for you though...

Oh yeah...Welcome to the site. 8)

im 15, got my luv for free. tell him that a 2wd luv is cheaper to insure than a sports car, and they are pretty practical... easy to work on, reliable, and get good gas mileage.

Tell him that if he doesnt let you buy the luv... you're going to buy it anyway, move out, and live in the luv. Hey, it could happen.

He probably wants to get you something that he thinks you'll be better off with. He probably doesn't realize there that there is a real resurgence in the Luv Truck. I think they are cool, or I wouldn't have one. You can buy them inexpensively, and but parts pretty reasonably, and they are inexpensive to operate. I would say to you, don't try to trick him. Be honest with him and just tell him the benefits of the trucks, and tell him that's what you want.
