re-wiring it would be what I would do. You should get an air horn now (perfect oportunity). get the REAL kind, the ones that are on truckers and fire trucks.

Hmmmm.. Thats strange, I have had a problem with my horn WORKING!! Everytime I hit a large bump, that dam button pops off and the horn blares until I can find it on the floor and snap it back on.
It really impresses people on the road next to me.

horn inop......... try pulling the cover off the steering shaft and bypassing the horn wire to ground... if it works then chances are the brush connecting the horn button in the wheel to thewiring harness is worn out

for train horns you're best bet is check out APC or a truck tealer like freightliner, peterbilt, or kenworth. they have aftermarket horns that sound like an oncoming train... i used to work on a tricked out freightliner century owned by APC's transport truck that had a train horn from APC plumbed into it. yes the same apc that makes custom parts!

I wish i'd done that b4 buying my horn from Harbor Freight, it's one of those high-pitched horns... but at least you can hear it a 1/4mile away....

At least it didn't do that while you were driving behind a group of hells angels or something...

I had that same problem with my Grant steering wheel. The problem i found with my assy was that the nut holding the steering wheel on was sitting too high. It was tough to get the cover on and the horn wouldn't work. Grinding the nut down so it would be thinner fixed the problem. The nut was keeping the spring bottomed out and it wouldn't move to make contact to set off the horn. I took about 1/8" off the nut and now it works. I could get it better but i got it to work well enough to pass state inspection and that's all i was looking for.

I dont mind state inspections. The place i go to is a muffler shop that is full of gearheads. If they dig the ride, they'll be really flexible with the requirements to pass. Plus i like it when a group of mechanics hover around the engine compartment and drool. To them, it breaks up the monotony of inspecting planejane cars and S.U.V.'s
