pic is kinda bad....and i should have put something beside it for size compare....but the blade is 8" long and the total length when done will be about 12 1/2".......it gonna have a hickroy handle stained black w/ shoe polish (resorces are limited here lol) it will not have a hilt...its made outta a old file and the edge is forged not ground in w/ a grinder.

now the trick is gonna be making another JUST like it.....i wanna have 2 and make a double back sheath :D

what do yall think?

oh well......lesson learned here is....drill the holes in the wood slightly larger to allow for the expansion of the brass....or just make the damn thing outta steel and weld it on

I seem to have the same problem with handles. I've redone my machette handle and now it has split again, and I reworked a knife a while back and had to do it twice before I got it right

i am a 44B welder/metal worker......hence the reason i get to play w/ steel all day

speaking of knife regs......that reminds me....i gotta make one HUGE ASS knife that i dont care about for when we demobalize back thru Ft Dix.
when we came thru there for mobalization they made us turn in all kinds of "contraban".....including knives w/ a cutting blade longer than 3" .....of course we got them back when we got over here but still.....
im a saw gunner...i carry a FULLY AUTOMATIC rifle capable of fireing 850 rds of 5.56mm ball ammo per min up to 1000 yards maximum effective range.my full combat load is anywhere between 800 to 1600 rounds.......and i gotta turn in my freakin kershaw b/c the blade is 3 1/4" long??????
piss off.........so im gonna make some kinda big ass blade to stick in thier little ammesty box.
