It has been awhile since i posted here, but I have been a LUV fan for about a year, when I bought my first LUV. It too is 4X4, but the body is pretty beat. Here is the delema, this dude has a LUV 4x4, not sure of te year, but I have a 79' and his looks just like it. This guy is actually going to give it to me for FREE, but his friend gave it to him, and no title and what not. I really want to keep both trucks, anyone have any suggestions on how this might work out, and what about getting a lean?

Also I am in California.

bRING IT HOME, TELL DMV someone dropped it off in your yard, and put a lean on it.

I say you get the vin tag off of the "flawless" truck, and swap your vin tag onto it. Then keep your truck as a parts vehicle.

Most states offer a recondition title option. I got one in Texas for my 80. Just tell them that you rebuilt it from several different trucks. Most older cars and trucks only qualify for this option.

In mississippi you can go to an insurance place, and get a bond on the truck, take the bond paperwork to the tag office, and get a title for it. As long as no leins come up against it, it's your's.

Don't know how it works in Cali though.

Here in OR you can just file for a lost title. They'll check to see if its stolen, and if its all cleared they fill you out a new one.

Ya you can do that, but if you pay for it and then go have it checked if it is stolen and it is you lose your money and the truck. This happened to someone I know and they were getting it from someone they knew it was the person before that that stole it. so you need to get info off the truck and find out first if it is stolen.
