LUVSADRAG,

Were those heads off of any GM manufactured vehicle, or were they aftermarket for SBC's?

I have a 400 sb in my luv ..made into a 406 I had to connect water hoses from the drain plugs on side of the block up to water pump to help cool the heads and sence then never went over 220 in heat so far. as for fly wheel i got a stoker plate form a catelog for 29.00 and it goes between the plate and block so you can use the 350 wheel.. lot cheeper that way also. I used to race this in a sportsmen class and when car was totaled I put the whole dam thing into my lov. also I have a 4 spd and I used the 350 fly wheel with stocker plate, it can be used for ether flex plate or fly wheel

oh buy the way I bought a malloy hei system from jegs and it fits great cause it comes with the small top on it. with msd coil set up. also to put it in I used solid racing mounts to get it under the hood comp. its under there with 5 inch ground clearance. have a victor jr with 1 inch spacer under a 650 dub pumper holley and 4 inch air cleaner and clears hood by 2 inches

Well i got it! The 400 motor with the harmonic balancer and flex plate and a TH 350 trans minus a torque converter. For 700.00. Now im committed to the project. This motor/trans setup will go into my truck and the Buick setup will go into another truck for my nephew(?)
The 400 has a 2 bbl thats not going to stay on it. I do have a question about the harmonic balancer, does it stick out farther than a 350? Im assuming that it doesn't because it would need all kinds of new brackets for accessories.

yes, I believe 1968 (and maybe a few other years) Corvette. they fall under the "Camel Hump" or "Fuelie" head classification after looking at MorTec I see quite a few other factory angle plug heads like
492
370
392 (bowtie head)
128 (late model aluminum)

Got the headers today along with a buttload of parts for the build. Now i know why the headers and mounts work as a combo! I always assumed that the wrap around tube was on the drivers side. I never concidered the starter being in the way. Now i also see that im gonna have exhaust tube issues. I was thinking that i could tie in to the tubes for the headers but now after seeing them, the exhaust tubes are spaced too far apart from each other for the headers, Oh well, it's only money, right?

I was installing the timing chain assy(Edelbrock 7800) and the harmonic balancer. It seems that the new crank sprocket is wider that the original. When everything is all installed, the timing mark on the balancer sits forward of the pointer of the timing cover. I'm certian that the sprocket is bottomed out on the crank and the harmonic balancer is bottomed out on the sprocket.I had to disassemble it all to see what the problem could be. I also removed some material from the block to insure the chain would have clearance. Is the Edelbrock setup wider than stock? And will it make the H balancer sit forward on the crankshaft?

heads r where the real power is flow flow flow..........if you ever have the money get you a set flowed by steve schmidt racing in Indiana ..matching flowed heads with intake and a super cam is where the power is....400 s rule....i have a set of angle plug heads on a 406 in the garage.....keep it streetable and have a blast.......although a 383 stroker is a killer also..best wishes in your decision......

With the stock heads, RPM intake, mild cam, 600 c.f.m. carb with headers, The motor puts out some respectable power. But even with this setup, i cant plant all the power effectively to the ground so i need to get a posi assy and at least traction bars to get what i got to work.
You'll always find something that isn't up to par so it's a never ending process.
