Didnt those rears come from big ass farm trucks and such? Not familiar with them, but I would think they would handle alot of abuse. Gear ratios are usualy realy low in those big rigs so they can actualy get moving from a stop.Would probably be a decent rear if you could shorten it.

Any idea what this two speed rear is out of? If it is from something like a big ass farm truck you have to consider the scale of the thing vs a normal rear end for running it on a regular truck. Shoot, the pumpkin on the 2 speed rear in my folks deuce and a half farm truck is nearly the size around of the tires I run on my LUV. You also have to think about what wheels will fit it as well. One plus is that something with tucked under the bed duals, the axle width might be a little narrower than you might expect from a bigger rig.

well i've seen the 2 speed rear go into a few different "odd" cars vega's and monzas that kind of stuff... there seems to only be 2 problems with them

1) when you're at 100 mph or so and drop the rear into second you tend to jump to 130+ rather quickly.... and the rear was taking 650+ from a smallblock chevy.... the problem with this whiplass and broken seat anchor bolts.

2) most police officers tend not to like seeing vehicles moving at 100 mph, not to mention 130+, so the second problem... speeding tickets

bye the way though, you could fill the bed and in 1st get the truck moving no matter what

Yeah, like these guys have been saying...them 2 speeds out of farm trucks are HUGE! If thats what your planning on using in a LUV...you should be able to haul a lot of....STUFF  We got an old 1974 Chevy C65 "Three Ton". Its got a 2 speed rear in it...and I do beleive one of the rear ratios is 6.14 8O Im not sure which one though. But thats pretty damn low for anything but a farm truck. Not to mention they are damn near 6 and some feet wide. As far as HP and Torque capabilities are concerned....You should be able to throw at least 500 HP and an equal amount of torque to that thing and not even put any stress on it. If thats what your talking about....then I think you may want to consider something else. Unless your making a LUV Monster Truck.... 8)
