You guys that chopped the tops on your LUVs, did you get it prof. done or did you do it yourself, and if so how did you do it. I am thinking about chopping mine, and having small windows (would have to be done by a professional, the windows that is). Any pointers, pics, and drawings would be appreciated....

I was talking to a guy around my area here that owns a rod shop and basicaly you have to cut the top off, take the amount out that you want it lowered and then cut it into four sections. Support those sections as you weld the posts back together and then add sheet metal between all those sections. A very time consuming job it looks like. Check out the gallery. Someone there had one in progress that Ive talked to about it.

what is the standard size of a window and I'll measure mine. If it's different, then ya gotta get a new windshield, if not, then you're good with the stock.

Well, your kinda stuck either way. If you just lay the A pillars back, its going to effect the angle of the side windows. However, its easier to get a flat peice of glass cut for the door glass than the curved/rounded wind sheild. And you could keep the stock wind sheild by doing it this way. Youll still have to cut the B pillars and section the roof to get everything to line up correctly. I once found a wibe site dedicated to an old chevy truck this guy was having chopped. I dont have it book marked anymore, but it was a very indepth article. If you have any spare time, try searching for it.

Why not do a chop then do a sissor type of convertible? I think a LUV with an SSR top would be the bomb.
