So now im in transition from the Buick to the small block Chevy. Once i start the new engine, i can then change my profile to a V-8. Things have gone pretty smooth. It took 3 hrs to remove the Buick motor with minimal fluid spillage. Now i can fit the clean motor in to place.

The 400 SB is in place!! Everything is a tight fit. I thought i'd never get the headers fitted. I even started the motor today. It works but the starter is screwy. It doesn't want to engage. Plus the timing marks dont show up with a timing light. I must have mis-stabbed the distributor by a tooth. It's got it's little bugs to be worked out but this is promising! Running straight headers is not as loud as it thought.

Ironed out the starter and timing problems today. I installed the drive shaft and finished putting all of the pieces together and took it for a run around the block. The trans is a little low on fluid but it ran on it's own power. Man! Those straight headers were loud!!! It resonated thru the truck like crazy. The temp sits at 180 degrees. Oil pressure is 60 p.s.i. at idle. Tomorrow the truck goes to the muffler shop for an exhaust. Then i can get serious about getting things fine tuned.

If i had the room, i'd go out and find another Luv and put the Buick motor in it. After getting the V-8 installed, I feel the truck was made for a V-6. It fits like a glove compared to the small block. I'll miss the Buick and this V-8 better be all it's cracked up to be.
