Will a 79 alt. work in a 72 truck? They seem to have the same connector and + & - post setup.

If the pulley lines up, it should work fine.

I dotn see why not... i switche dmy ole engine over to a delco alt... used stock brackets, then I put an 86 nissan alt on

Shoure does. I have a 73 and a 75 and the Alt's are the same. The starters are a bit different since the 73's is on the drivers side and the 75's is on the passenger side.
