i put a new filter on my truck still the same fires up it will run till it runs out of starting fluid then when u turn the key fires up dies acts as if there is no fuel pressure but im not sure and when it starts up if u hit the gas it kills it and u here massive air sucking from carb i dont know if its needing a fuel pump or wat but post back i thank yall for last time to

Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and turn the engine over to see if you get a good fuel flow. Just hold a good sized can to collect the fuel. If you have a pressure gauge, then attach that next. I believe the pressure should be between 2.5 & 3.5 PSI.

I would also clean the conections on the fuel pump itself, it should be located under the cab on the driver side. It should also make an audiable ticking noise, its not loud but if you kneel down next to the left side of the cab you should be able to hear it.

everyone beat me to some good posts lately,i've been so busy the past couple of days i haven't been able to get online. you could take a test light and check the wires at the fuel pump to see if it is getting power.
