oil light

Post subject: oil light

my 79 luv's oil light comes on when u hit the brakes and when u hit the gas it goes off. it does it more when it is hot outside like 90 it does it more then when its colder in the mornings or what ever WHATS WRONG???? anyone know???

You may have low oil that's shifting back and forth as you accelerate and slow down. Make sure you have the correct dip stick for your year of LUV. How many quarts do you put in with an oil change? How many miles on the engine? If the pan is sludged up badly, maybe the oil is trapped behind or ahead of the axle hump in the oil pan.

Robert has it summed up. If this is not the case then i would clean the connection on the oil sending unit. It should be screwed into the block on the botom front on the right hand side. close to where the oil filter is. I dont trust lights so i installed a presure gage so i know how many PSI my motor is running. Its easy and lets you know whats going on in the motor before the light will tell you.
