I have a 1979 luv and i'm debating on whether or not i'm going to tub it I plan on running a ford 9inch or a 12 bolt gm rear end does anyone have any suggestions and does anyone know what size tire I can run if i dont tub it cause i'm not sure yet how to tub it any help would be appreciated

i used a doner bed and cut the fenders out, then i cut my bed wider in the fender wells, welded the new fenders on and did the finshing work and vola wider fenders i built mine to take a 32x14.50 but i run a 28x12.50 .hope this helps!

Mike (Nthe10s) the black truck on the home page with the weld draglites isn't tubbed, and mike was able to fit a 11"x28 MT ET street under the stock fenders, he had to "finess" the outer fender lips to bring the rearend down, but as you can tell they fit rather nicely, take a look in the photo gallery. The LUV's will go in the 9's without too much hassle (and enough motor) without tubbing, I would imagine you could even go faster but that gets into safety issues. The trend now is to go fast on small street tires, but the prostreet look will always be a favorite.

depending on how big the powerplant will be, i like to stay as close to stock as possible. the less you have to cut/splice/weld on your body, the better. less body work, rust-prone areas, etc. good luck and btw, what size engine?
