I've got a '79 Luv that needs a new engine, and I've been wondering if a diesel one would be about as easy to put in, as well as what else might be involved in converting the truck to diesel power. It's always run on gas, but I know they made some diesel ones, and wonder if there's a kit out there or what? Any advice or point me to a good source, I will appreaciate muchly.

wouldn't be too hard, have to give the fuel lines and tank a GOOD flushing. then all the electrical required for the diesel. the little isuzu diesels that came in the later luvs and early isuzu pickups are pretty expensive. i see used ones on ebay go for over $1000.

don't think anything is a direct bolt up, but i could be wrong

isuzu p'ups, chevy luvs, and chevy s10s all had the same diesel engines...that might make your search a little easier

You may be into a transmission swap as well. I think the bell housing on the diesel isuzu motors is different from the gas.
