Does anybody know if you can use block-hugger type headers other than the hooker conversion kit?

do a search, i think it has been dicussed a few times.
off the top of my head i dont see why not b/c block huggers are for close clearances anyway

It depends on what engine mounts your using. The block huggers generally dump straight down about 6-8" from the center 2 cylinders. Bryan

I used a set on my first small block truck right side cleared but I did have to dent the middle 2 tubes for steering shaft clearance.I used a deepwell socket and put 2 tiny little dents at the correct angle it was no big deal.I think Headman make ones called tight tubes that would eliminate this problem.You can see them in a Jegs or Summit catalog.
I also have block huggers on the big block in my truck now with no modifaction to the headers.I just moved everything else!

I used some cheap($90new i think) block huggers from flowtech on mine and i'm using the hooker mounts...they exit right above the crossmember and its pretty close but it worked. Here's a pic w/o motor or trans.

this is how i put up pics,

i just use a yahoo account for my pics, just upload them and be sure to make the folder a public folder. open the pic (not just the thumbnail) right click it, select properites, copy the URL there, come back here to your message box, paste the url, select it again (highlight it) then ckick the Img button at the top
