I know this has been brought up before but; What do you do to put wheels on a LUV? There are no 'good' wheels available for the six lug.
I want to be able to put on some skinny fronts and big rears. What is the trick with the front? Can you just have them machined to use the five lug?
Also, how big can you go on the rear without tubbing or cutting the frame.
The truck is a 72, with discs off a 76 on the front.
Thanks,

I have seen some centerline skinnies up front with the 6 lug pattern before.
I went with a vega rotor conversion. you can see it on my website. pick on the www button below.

six lug wheels are a dime a dozen. get some steel mojaks. you can get them like 15x8 up to 15x14. it isnt that hard to find the wheels, cause they are the same wheel as chevy half ton, and suburbans, and tahoes, and toyotas, and lots of stuff.

Thanks, but I want to put 15x3.5-4.5 on the front. It has 15x6 w/215s on the front now and they are way too wide. It's lowered (small block chevy also) and the front tires rub the fenders bad enough already.

looks like youll need to find out what it takes to get 5 lug if you want some skinny wheels. just do a mustang II ifs front end swp, they are five lug. then a narrowed 9inch in the rear.

So you say the mustangII rotor will fit? Do you have to just swap the calipers,or spidles also? Will the ball joint match? I dont have a clue . Having the same trouble, ford rear end 5 lug on the back, stock luv 6 lug in the front. Want to swap the fronts to 5 lug. :?

Vega rotors can fit without too much problem, take a look at http://www.angelfire.com/tn2/xr50freekz/luvvega.htm for a pretty good write up of how it is done. That would get you five bolts and not too much extra effort.

The other option is to have the current hub/rotor machined to be five bolt instead of six. There used to be a place that did it, but they have apparently stopped doing it. You might find a local machine shop that can do the same though.

There is also http://www.aerospacecomponents.com/ but you'll have to call them and find out the details. They offer a disc brake upgrade that would also add some stopping power. More info on them also at http://forums.luvtruck.com/viewtopic.php?t=3377

Well looking at that, it looks pretty good but 1 question. If you have to still drill the vega rotor from 4 lug to 5, then why not just re-drill the luv rotor from 6 lug to 5? That is probably to easy right. lol !!!

dont waist your money on having the six lug drilled to a five lug. I did it and the problem that I am having is you can not find all the parts to put the brake system back together, all the return springs manley.

Yha, I think I will pass on swappin to 5 lug in the front, I just bought a set of rims off a chevy blazer, 6 lug kinda like a centerline but with 50 cent piece sized holes all the way around. Nice rims and should be able to swap 2 of the 6 lugs for 2 five lugs for the back. It's a pretty common wheel. Well im reall hopefull any way :!:

Davisck2; what do the brake parts have to do with re-drilling the rotors? What am I missing?

I think he is talking about when you take the the rotors off to have them drilled and you rebuild the brakes... and you can't always find all the components to properly rebuild them...:?
