If you are going to an scb, then the luv rear end won't hold up to the stock horse power of even a 350,

for long

Gear ratios are a big thing to consider as well. I chose the jeep wagoneer dana 44 because I could keep my 6 hole pattern, bigger brakes, and a good veriaty of gear ratios.

moose, manual should be 4.56. Automatics have 4.10.

sounds like somebody was smoking somethng when they decided to put a higher ratio in an auto...can you say SLOW???

and to my knowlege, the lowest you can gear an s10 rear down would be 4.10. dana 44s can go to either 5.38, and toyota axles go all the way down to 5.71(5.29 is a better choice, since 5.71s are quite weak)

Actually, the higher the numbers, the lower the top end speed. Unless you are doing a lot of off-road driving, or drag racing with a good final gear ratio trans, you should stay away rear end gears in the 5's. For a daily driver, especially one that might see highway miles, I would recommend getting down into the 3's. You won't be reving the engine as high and you will get better fuel mileage.
