I personally am running stock manifolds, but most guys go for the block hugger headers. Maybe somebody here can give you more information though....

it seems that the crossmember is in the way for block huggers. the stock manifolds go down at the back of the engine not in the center. that is what is killing me. also the stering shaft.

Did you just put extensions off of the existing LUV motor mounts or did you cut the old motor mounts out and weld new ones in?? I cannot run middle exit manifolds or headers either, i have to run back exit manifolds. My motor mounts get in the way if i tryed putting headers on. I just extended the existing motor ount out forward, to accomodate for the SBC motor mounts. I think you got the same problem i have, if so, im afraid theres not much options...

On my headers the 2 primary tubes closest to the steering shaft were cut loose, and bent around the shaft, then welded back together. I'll try to get some pics. Oh, and they are shorties.

have you tried the hooker headers for the v8 conversion luv? the part number is listed in the beer budget 350 swap in the tech articles. maybe the custom motor mounts were a copy of the hooker conversions.

if you still have torsion bars do the hooker headers.
you can get them from jegs. you have to call them because they aren't listed on the internet or in the catalog.
I used to have them, but after cutting the torsion bars out I sold them and went with 78/79 camaro headers.
I almost got finished cutting out my front motor plate last night. I will be posting pics soon of that also. woohoo!!!!! :-)

oh yeah I used the sanderson headers on an S-10 blazer 4x4 V8 swap once like bryan is talking about. they dump out at the very back. they will prolly work also.

no motor mounts. the conversion was done with a custom motor plate that mounts to the front of the engine by the timing cover. i will try and get pics tonight of the setup. bad part is i got the truck from a guy who was just tired of the project truck. the motor in it is strong but it is dirty and box stock. it even has the stock intake on it and cam. so it quits pulling at 4500 rpm. i want the headers and intake to help that out some.

I have a set of S-10 V-8 coversion shorty headers in my luv and they are perfect. They fit perfect around the steering arm and in between the frame rails. I still have the torsion bars and no problems. One of my buddys has a set of Toyota Land crusier V-8 coversion fenderwell headers. They fit really well. they hit the master cylinder so he got rid of the brake booster and bolted the master cylinder to the fire wall to fix that problem. Good Luck!!

Ok guys got some major question im in the process now of setting the motor in. I got the hooker heads for luvs. 1. Is the cross member supposed to come out. 2. Does the stock trans mount have to come out or can a th350 tail shaft go over the top of it. 3. Is it possible that the motor has to be cheated over to the passanger side so it clears the steering shaft. Luv4me you seem to know these luvs really well is there any way i can contact you over the phone.

1. I don't think the crossmember has to come out. the hooker headers are built to work with the hooker mounts. you might want to place the engine and the headers before you weld in mounts (if you are using something other than hooker mounts) just to get it in the correct place.
2. everyone cuts out the core support because if you use the stock tranny mount you have to install the V8/tranny at the same time, otherwise the tranny/engine won't go.
3. see #1...
yeah I will PM you my number

I got chrome block huggers from jegs and they fit great. had to do my own bending for the pipes though. my motor towers were moved to accomidate for the fit of a 406 with a scatter shield. cross member under motor had to be modified to clear the 9 qt hamburger pan. So before I modified it I installed the headers and modified for both. It come out great and all clears everything. also had to grind 1/4 inch angle into the (A) arm support on right side. llok like they were made for it. but srry no part numbers.....cant find but ill keep looking
