 Post subject: points to hei conversion

ive been thinkin about changing from points to hei using like the crane fireball setup or msd, accel ect. has anyone else done this? what do you think? how reliable is it and do you gain any performance? thanks

I have swapped two v-8s from points to mallory unilite distributors, the throttle response was the biggest improvement i noticed, also ya dont have to deal with those pesky points goin out....seemed like with both engines i dealt with the points you buy at auto parts stores just dont last...anyway thats what i know.. i would change it...-Gus

i used the MSD dist and the 6al box, had points on it msd is much more relible

if you have HEI go with it instead of the points.
definitely a more reliable setup.
all you need is 12V from the ignition to the HEI.

I am using the Pertronix Ignitor II. It works very well. Simple conversion.
