Im thinking of a new project. Since my engine and tranyn are shot in my nissan, and it has a divorced tcase. I am planning to put my 1.8 LUv enigne, 4speed and tase in it, and run dual transfercases. It should be an easy taks, and I should only ahve to modify motor mounts. Im thinkin the oil pan might cuase a problem too. I guess ill hafta see

Your nissan has a t-case seperate from your tranny with a driveshaft to connect them? Never heard of that other than great big military vehicles.

hmmm that will be a cool project. As far as the divorced t-cases goes are you shure? Im perty shure they just run a long imput shaft like the domestics and that its not a one piece unit like Isuzu and Toyota run.

the only toyota pickup that was ever made with an integral transfer case were 4x4 pickups and 4runners(before '96) that had an automatic in them. all other trucks toyota makes have a removable transfer case, not divorced though...but there is an adaptor out there so you can do that, e.g. make dual cases with a marlin adaptor and divorce the front case so it can be run behind any transmission

http://www.marlincrawler.com

would be interesting to see one of these in a luv...you wouldn't need to worry about engine power when your crawl ratio is 300:1 :D

1986 and back nissan/datsun pickups have divorced transfer cases..... with a driveshaft inbetween. suzuki samurais are the same way, and some fords had them too.

Interesting. My 77 had a split driveshaft, so it had a dual xfer case. Hmmm... Unless it is something seperate from that.

a divored transfer case is not uncommon. alot of older dodges had them, and that is what decifered between a ford f250 highboy, or lowboy, is the highboys had a divorced t-case. samurais have divored t-casses also, and the only weigh about 30 pounds.
