does anybody have a used weber carb for a 79 4x4 they want to get rid of? my poor little truck is fixin' to get a head job and a carb replacement. it runs like poo. i cant get it to do diddly squat. i adjust the mixture screw all the way in, and i get nuthin. i luv my luv but i r gettin' frustrated. miffed off if you will. when i turn the screw all the way out, it runs the same in every position.......BAD . what am i to do? i cant stop suckin. no wait, i refuse to stop sucking. i control my destiny not anyone else. i needa beeeeeeeeeer

Have you checked all your vacum lines, if it runs with the gas pedal pressed, and dies in idle, it sounds like maybe you need to get a gasket kit or rebuild your carb.But first I would check all the lines and try replacing alot of your hoses.I had the same problem a few years ago when I had the 4 cyl.


1975 luv V-8 muncie 4-speed

i just rebuilt the carb, and sprayed carb cleaner around the base and all the lines. here is the whole story. when i first start it up in the morning, it runs fine. on the way to work, after i get on the highway, when i finally get it up to 60 or 65 mph, it starts cutting out a little and chugging. when i get off the highway, it runs VERY erratic. it will idle from about 250 rpm to about 1800 back and forth for a little bit then finally die if i dont do anything. if i pump the gas just once and not a lot, (just tap it good)it will idle about 850 or 900 but not steady at all. and the exhaust pops and gurgles something fierce. i replaced the dist. cap, rotor, plugs and wires. when i took off the cap, the carbon plug was gone and the inside was blown out around the cap. wtf? . i am trying to fix it but nothin is workin. the tail pipes sounds like it is sucking and blowing which leads me to a head job. i dont know but im gonna have another beer and drown myself in buds suds.
