Ok so I'm paying full coverage insurance for my 1980 Chevy Luv and I want to know how much my truck is valued for, lets say in case i completely total it? I asked my insurance, and they said its worth whatever KBB has it valued for but I tried looking for its value in KBB and it wouldn't let me go as far back as 1980, does anyone know where I can find out its value? Or has anyone been told how much their Luv is worth? I know it also depends about the condition its in, but i just want to have an estimated idea. I'd apreciate the help, Thanks.

Unfortunately the 80 LUV has a value to the insurance company of around 2K in mint condition. You could argue the fact but you won't get much more. I have my LUV insured with a speciality company for a stated value. This is a value me and the insurance company agreed to. I true to get it with State Faem but our trucks are not considered classics.

You can take this opinion or not. My wife is a State Farm Agent, we spoke to underwriting several times and they would not budge. We even tried to work out something with her District Manager and he said the same thing.

It's not a bad deal, I got a higher value, one million in liability for less then what State Farm was charging.

I took a title loan to get tires for my luv and the NADA value was about $4,200

This NADA only shows 4K as new price.

you could have it appraised by a company that does that... Last time I had that done it cost $250.00, but that was a long time ago. Call around if you find one or several and find out what they charge.

Mine was a '64 Impala SS back then...

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

As far as State Farm is concerned appraised value does not matter, the trucks don't qualify to be insured as a classic, they will only pay KBB/NADA value. Do your homework and talk to your agent if you have a good amount of money tied up into your truck.
