Yep took her out on the highway for a short trip today. Did pretty good cruised along nicely at 65mph. At about 70 she sounded like she was reaching her max. But what do you expect for the stock 4 banger. The only problem was hills. she slowed down to @ 55 on them. But I'm happy considering she's a local hauler till I get the V8 done and in her. Well just wanted to share that.

Not bad at all. I run about 65 and it holds that up minor hills, but steeper inclines and it drops off. The weber carb I have on mine seems to help.

I am not putting a v-8 or v-6 in mine ever. A guy asked me what engine mine had the other day at 7-11. He said "What engine you got? v-8 or v-6?" I said neither I had a 4 cylinder. He then asked when they started putting 4 cylinders in them. I guess everyone has a v-6 or v-8. I will be one of the last with a 4 banger. But mine will be fuel injected and turbo charged

Hehe. They would like it better if you put a bunch of stickers and a fart can on it.

I had the same experience with my 79 at a Circle-K. Had a couple guys looking at it when I came out and they hit me with the "what's it got in it?" and "that a v6 or v8? Sounds big". The look on their faces was pretty priceless when I told them it was just a stock 1.8L 4 cylinder with just a header added. I guess people naturally expect something to be hiding in a LUV. They looked even more confused when I left a patch of tire in the driveway on my way out though, like maybe I'd lied to them. :)

I had the opposite problem once in 1991, there were these 3 guys at a bank I took my buddy to. While he's at the atm, I hear a few words of their conversation saying my truck sounded good. It ended with the driver of the 5.0 Mustang saying "yeah, but it's just a four cylinder." So as I left I made sure he knew it wasn't. :D
