80' Luv 4x4 stock.
I've been wanting to get rid of that bench seat because it wrecks my back on longer drives and was wondering what vehicles i should be looking for at the salvage yard that will be best bucket seats to swap over. I've read a couple of posts and seen a 325i, a fiero and some other random cars. Any opinions? Preferably the bucket seats that require a minimum amount of modifications would be the best. Thanks!

I think my seats were about as easy to swap in as any I have seen. They were I believe BMW 318I or E30 seats. The 2 outside rails lined up with the factory holes in the floor so I only had to drill the 2 inside bolts for each seat. I didn't care for the head rests so I left them off. They matched pretty good also but I am thinking they had been recovered at some point.

Very cool man, thank you! I shouldn't have a problem drilling a hole or two, I'll check the salvage yard tomorrow or the next day. I do have one question though. Since the bench seat bolts in to a hump thats been molded in to the floor and there isn't the same bump molded where the other side of the bucket seat would bolt in, do you have to build a bracket to prop the seat up and keep one side from being two inches lower than the other?

... i tried to word that question/description as good as possible, if it's confusing and not understandable, i apologize.

There was a gap from the seat rail to the floor on the front 2 inside mounts. I used 2 old larger size 1/2 inch drive sockets as spacers. They were the perfect height for the rails. The rear is flat with the floor.

I don't have a pic of the inside but here is the outside mount. Before I re-did the floor too...

I went searching the local pick and pull some years ago looking for buckets for my LUV, and found some that work quite well, but might be hard to find. They came out of a 1988 Hyundai Excel sedan, which is not an easy car to find, but those early Korean cars were so terrible that they did not run long enough for the seats to wear out!

Hyundai Tiburon seats. Had to make spacers for the two front inside bolts.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

I got my bucket/bench out of a 98 s10. Had to make a spacer for the inside front hole and drill a new one for the outside front, but they fit amazing and I got a center console/middle seat :) oh and the seatbelts out of the same truck worked very well too :) and cup holders. I'll try to post pics soon
