No, I hate blasting too... I just did the outer part of the inner fenders to remove the scale. I don't like doing panels you see, as it tends to make them wavy, even the walnut shell media...

Yep I am just doing the fire wall, fender wells and door sills. Stuff that is to hard to sand.

Had a few parts come in this week. The blue items are cab panels, some polyurethane motor mounts and trans mount, a pair of door seals, hope they fit, these are the ones from Thailand, a replacement fuse box, and a set of overseas side marker lights for the fenders, cause i like the way they look versus the stockers...

An FYI, the fusebox is a 12 circuit that takes the newer blade style fuses, and it actually lines up with the stock holes on the truck. (mine uses the 11 circuit factory box). Cost was just under 12 bucks. Came from China off Ebay, took 2 weeks to get it. They sell different sizes, got no idea if the 6 circuit one will match up with the original 6 cicuit box, but worth a shot...

I like those marker lights, are they blinkers as well? Do you have a link?

They are supposed to do whatever the stock ones do, there looks to be a little modding to do to make them mount up...

Yeah, nothing on the local craigslist, lol...

Added a few more things... First up is a set of headlight bezels. these are new aftermarket reproductions I was told...

And a set of black seat belts...

Interestingly enough, I bought the items from the same seller, one on the board here through a response to my wanted classifieds post, and the other through ebay...

I finished welding on the cab, except for some underside I will get too shortly, and got it all ground down and finished stripping the last of the paint from the jams and such. I plan to tackle the roof panel next. Usual truck top rash from kids, people sitting on it, etc... Plan to use a little heat and cold to shrink it, don't plan on any filler... Then it is on to a little skim coat work on the places that need it, but it ain't much that needs it, then it is prime time!

Looks like a roof with no paint right now. I got no one to take action shots, but basically, I circled the low spots with a marker and applied heat from a torch to the area, then quenched it with a ice water soaked rag to shrink the metal. Then some hammer and dolly work on the high spots and ridges. I got some 2k hi build primer I am going to use to block it with, so it should be filler free...

And due to work/time considerations, I have done absolutely nothing to i, lol...

I did get my bubble rear window from Australia. I opened up the box and checked the fitment, but did not unwrap it due to fear of scratching it. It looks just like the one in my blue truck though...

Not much of an update. I finally got a few hours free of other obligations and removed the stock fuel tank and lines, what was left of the exhaust, and cut away/ground down all the unused stock bracketry from the cab rearward. I also got about half the seam work on the front where I grafted on the new header piece. Also, I have ordered the converter for the 4L80e trans. That is the last major piece prior to assembly. The only big ticket items left is the controller for the trans, wheels and tires, and the insanely priced paint. Nice mark up since I last did one...

Finished up the seam work on the graft and welded up the bottom of the floor pan. Removed the cab to access it, so I rolled the frame outside...

Just a suggestion while you have it this far down . Make sure the shock crossmember is welded good on the inside and take the extra off the outside of the frame rail .

I thrashed on it some more. Got the frame finished. I know everything is black right now. When I do the front end rebuild, I plan on powder coating stuff, just don't want it to rust. I didn't do the rear end and springs, because they are destined for replacement at some point...

Image

I also been thrashing on the cab. I have it POR-15'ed top and bottom and the seams sealed. (Sealer not applied in the pic)... I plan on top coating the POR-15 and priming/painting the engine bay so I can put it somewhat back together...
