I'm not trying to be a dick or trying to start anything, but I read in the brochure said that the 75 LUV had 75 hp and I was wondering what the top speed of a LUV was and what is the max weight it can tow. Also, how is the acceleration. I would like to compare to the 4 cylinder s10 that I had, which seemed underpowered but I loved it anyway.

Well it seems every LUV has a different top speed. The 4x4 ones seemed slower then the 2wd, which makes sense due to the extra weight and 4x4 stuff. My 2wd back when it had the bone stock 1.8L would top out at just under 80 mph. I also did a quarter mile time (wasn't anything high-tech, we just measured out a 1/4 mile and used a stop watch) and i got about 22.5 seconds. Never did test the 4x4 my friend has, but im sure it would be just about the same. I do believe the LUV will go a bit faster, but mine sounded like it was going to blow up at 80 mph  ...thats why it has a sbc now  Never did any towing with a LUV.

Sorry I cant leave this one alone yall...

lets see one of the LUV'S I work on tops out at approx 170 mph and as for towing ...well it does just fine behind the F-250 powerstroke!!

the next one tops out around 155 or so .. and it too does very well behind the powerstroke..

I think that is enough for now

Top speed??  Acceleration??  Towing??
What are those????? Just kidding S-10 honestly my truck is a lowrider and has ZILCH for towing capabilities I mean I put in my stupid combat boots and rucksack and my suspension is bottomed

My top speed is about 60 to 65 REALLY!!! but I have 14" tires on it I might be able to hit 70 going downhill with a wind at my back !
I am still trying to find acceleration though. just kidding on that actually my acceleration is not bad at all I have a weber carb and a nice set up on my exhaust and a good tune up and it will scoot up to top speed fairly quick. well just my two pennies!
Later

My luv tows itself just fine. Who cares about top speed, the speed limit is usually 70 or 75. Mine does that just fine too.

i can peg the speedometer out in my luv if you give it enough time, and after a downhill run. but it will hold the speed. acceleration is slow, but good top speed. anyway it will hold the speed limit real good, which is all that matters to me since i don't need another ticket. i've towed a lowboy with another luv on it before and it towed fine. brakes were what scared me, extremely hard to stop. so i towed the other luv with a towbar to help my brakes out. so it will tow its own weight. by the way mine is a 4x4.

well when my luv was stock on a long flat run i had it pegged at 85mph. After putting a header and carb on it i have had it up to 110mph. As for towing, when my luv was stock it towed around 2,000lbs every day for 3 years no problem (my brother and i ran a fair sized lwan mowing outfit). I have had a Chevy K30 crew cab on a tow strap behind my luv and it just barely pulled it, thats about 7500lbs.

i've had mine once on the highway past the 85 mark ( not on a hill either ) :D i also once put a full size golf cart in the bed and it did fine, just a little slow off the start.

Stock top speed really does seem to be all over the place depending on who you ask. My 77 2wd will run 90+ on the freeway pretty much all day, with the exception of the steeper uphill grades. Its bone stock, no header, stock carb. My 79 4x4 will hit 85-90 on the flats and downhill given enough time but really drops on uphill climbs, sometimes even needing a downshift to third to keep going. The first LUV I ever rode in was stock other than a bit of a cam and free flowing exhaust, I remember seeing the speedo wrapped around heading for 0 again.

As for towing I once towed a buddy's big old Dodge Power Wagon about 3 miles with a stock 76 LUV, but I really haven't towed much for a real trailer. I've used LUVs to move around all kinds of farm equipment and never found much I couldn't budge, but I don't think I'd want to pull a lot with one at highway speeds without adding some horsepower.

Well I dont know how fast mine will go it does have a weber and seems to go pretty good, but one thing I do know and I think you all will agree my trucks drives so much nicer with some weight in the back. Not so much of a damn gut buster.

i think the luv is a blast to drive once youv done a few upgrades. When mine was still stock ride hight it was a back road monster. I would throw it hard through coners. I would enter at 60mph, kick the tail around a bit and have exit speeds around 65-70mph. I love rally car racing, can you tell
Now that its lifted and has no sway bars its a little sketchy doing stuff that fast, but it still feels vary solid at 50mph through the twisties 8)
