My new head (reman) for my 1985 G200 just arrived and it is missing the hose bib on the front of the head. right above the water pump. The slick hole (no threads) is there, I have not measured but the hole looks to be around 5/8"

It was after hours at the head shop, and I really wanted to know what I am going to have to do.

What does one do about this???

Thanks

Bill

I don't remember if the water bib was a press fit or not. Is there enough meat on the head to tap the hole to a pipe thread?

That is what I was thinking about. the thickness/depth is about 1/2". I measured the hole, it is 3/4, so not sure what tap size

I looks like a press fit, but where does one get a fit fitting?

Thanks

Bill

I have never seen a head missing this part, but I am not a guy who has had a lot of experience in the 4 cylinder LUV category.

I have seen them missing before, but not sure what the solution is. The pipe that comes out there is steel and I think it is just press fit. I would probably try to press one in and see if you can stake the edges of it a little on the inside, and maybe coat it with a little epoxy, jb weld, thread lock before sliding it into the hole too. But, I have a lot of spare parts to choose from.

Best bet is to get hold of the head rebuilder. It should have been there, and they might have knocked it out for some reason and forgot to reinstall it.

The hose that attaches to that is the "bypass" hose, so you might find more info if you use that in your searches.

I also would contact the rebuilder. They may have removed it to clean and hot tank the head, but they should have replaced it. I'm pretty sure it would be just a press fit.

The fitting is a "FACTORY" press fit and after taking advice from a very experienced mechanic on this engine, it is almost impossible to get the fitting tight and sealed, I decided to the tap the hole to 1/2"NPT and thread a brass nipple

That was my exact thought.
