I have a 1973 chevy luv truck and the carburetor solenoid will not open so secondary will not open have any info? If I power the sol it will open. There are three relays on the right side of engine compartment that control the sol. :(

Junk the carb and replace with a 32/36 weber

There are two solenoids on your carb. One is powered by key on power, it's a fuel solenoid. It shuts off the fuel when the ignition is trurned off, also known as a anti dieseling solenoid. The other is a coasting richer solenoid. It lets the carb run richer in third and forth gear while coasting and the clutch is out. The relays on the panel are 1). The coasting richer relay, 2). The fuel pump relay and 3). The resistor bypass relay that allows full battery voltage to the coil during cranking. I would make sure the fuel shut off solenoid is getting key on power and is working.

As above the electrical solenoids do not control the secondary throttle, it is controled by vacuum and an internal diaphram spring. If the choke plate is not fully open it will lock out the secondary throttle. Check that.

Ok I found the problem. It was something called an earth power relay. On the back of it it had two nuts that were rusted and the connections were corroded clean them up and oh what a difference it made. The relay is right by the battery. I looked inside and they make the connection on two internal relays. This is a lot for back in the day. Thanks for the help :D
