Hi guys, new here (obviously.) I come from the world of Nissan Z31's (300zx), and plan to stay there, but I just picked up a Luv truck for the fun of it. May keep it or may make it a flipper. Either way it's going to get a good deal of work done to it including paint. (Going to try to stay with OE colors).

Needs some work, but I have some tires that came with it. What I need to know is what is the STOCK tire requirement? Meaning what is the size of tire the truck came with from the factory? Trying to keep it factory spec.

Welcome to the forum.

You didn't mention if it's 1st or 2nd gen. The stock tire size for the 2nd generation was 195/75x14. I think the 1st gens may have been the same, but I'm sure someone else will weigh in with that info.

Oh yea, lol I'm not sure what generation it is, I'm a newb when it comes to these. It's a 1980 long bed, 2 wheel drive, 4 on the floor. Considering the year I'd guess its a 2nd gen?

It came with some 185 70 R14s along with some 195 60 R14's on it with some custom dished mags. Stock wheels are not there :( Just want the speedometer to read right lol

72-80 is first gen, 81-82 is second gen. You have a first gen.

I don't know the stock tire sizes. Sorry.

Welcome.

It looks like the body and bumper are pretty straight. With a little work, it could be a really nice ride.

Yea the body and bumpers are in great shape. A couple spots of surface rust but no major dents. It's missing some things like door mirrors and could use a little TLC on the interior.

From what I saw the frame looks good, no major rust. Not sure if it is has been here it's entire life, but I am in Arizona so rust should be minimum.

It does look like a pretty solid base to start with. Just a word of warning though, take care of your dash. Whatever you have is basically what you are stuck with, replacements are not out there. I've seen a few people new to the LUV tear out their slightly cracked dash thinking they could just buy a new one only to find no such beast exists.

There is a cap that covers the top half or so of dash and there are a few projects in the works of people trying to build new ones. The caps look pretty good, but you need to have at least parts of the dash left. The full replacements, well maybe someday but not yet.

Open the driver's side door, look for the label attached to the door edge about in line with the door lock, it will have the stock tire size & inflation.

The driver side door has been replaced, and what was left of the cracked up sticker had been primered over. :(

that's good to hear about the dashes, though mine is pretty much gone. Someone had cut it apart put some weird felt stuff over it, so I may be looking into one of those dash caps in the future.

No one has any part outs?

I won't say its impossible, but it is just about impossible to remove an original dash without destroying it. They are so brittle that even if you find one that looks ok you'd never get it out of the truck its in and into yours.

Google chevy luv dash cap for info on those. They cover down to just about the middle point of the gauge cluster and can be found under $100. If the lower portion of your dash is ok that will clean up the interior nicely.

Okay thanks a lot I'll look up the dash caps.

I can't quite tell what color interior the truck had, it seems to have had some interior work done to it in the past as it has mix-matched color interior.

The seat belts and door panels are tan, so I am guessing the original interior color was tan.

What color options do I have for these trucks for OE?

P.S. sorry for all the n00b questions. I should just google it but I'm at work at the shop right now so I don't have much time to sit around and search :(

Go to the home page and look under the Info section. All color codes are there. You might want to try the search feature, so far your questions could have been answered there.

Tip: Never ever ever EVER say that again on a forum. That's the same as saying "My time is SO much more valuable than yours, go fetch it for me." That is, if you want to have a good relationship with other forum members.

I didn't mean it like that. I'm only here because the rest of you know more about these trucks than I do, hence why I am asking the community rather than Google. Ever heard how things you find on the internet aren't always correct?

That's partially why I am asking you guys instead of trusting some random web page.

If I wanted you to fetch it for me I wouldn't have bought the truck, just asking for advice.

Sure I'll use the search button when I know I can find something that I don't need to be necessarily accurate.

I asked you guys personally because I want the right stuff....

I could understand if I was asking "What size motor does my LUV have?" but that isn't what I'm asking. 8)

Do you think we'll give you more accurate information than the last guy got when he asked the exact same questions?

You're making this hard. And it's going downhill fast. Your best possible reply now would be:

Listen again. The search feature is for info on this site. Most likely if it is wrong it would be quickly pointed out, especially if 800xl sees it. I will say as a older member here I will not help you again since you have not used the search. Sounds like to me you come here and expect us to wait on you.
